T
his is a postcard of the town square in Brussels, however we didn't go there at the right time of year, because there were definitely no fireworks or flower decorations covering the whole place for us. Ahh well, we'll just have to go again!!

Click to enlarge Another postcard of a street in town where there are lots of restaurants.

Click to enlarge The view of Brussels from outside the city Justice Department and Court house. Brussels may look miniscule on a world map, but when you're there, there are endless little streets to explore and amazing views and gardens. (Not to mention the pubs, with those 400 or so beers each with their own special glass!)

Click to enlargeThe city Justice Department and Court House is of monumental proportion. So much so, that what you are looking at here is a set of 3 photographs which Yves took, and I blended together in Photoshop. It was too big to fit in the camera lense with just one shot! (Will you ever believe another photo you see? Or can you see where the photos have been joined?)

Click to enlarge A beautiful maze of gardens in the centre of Brussels.

Click to enlargeMannekin Pis. The famous statue of a boy in Belgian folklore, who saved the city of Brussels in the 1600's by peeing on a fire.

The statue is tiny, and you'll be very lucky to get anywhere near it, with all the tourists around it!! I was unimpressed, but it's quite a popular attraction. The statue is dressed in a different costume everyday and you can buy playing cards etc with picture of the statue!

Click to enlarge Yves, myself and Alex at a nice posh restaurant in Brussels. We ate mussels and fries, as you can see. This was quite nice, although we had better the next night at a surprisingly unexpected little place that seated about 15 people, and was run by a family. The amazing thing about Europe (Excluding the fish and chip shop on Gorgie Road in Edinburgh!!!!) is that the small places which look poor from the outside, actually have the best food.

Click to enlargeAlso in town, this giant clock is a cuckoo clock and the soldiers come out and spin around and the little soldier on the top gongs the giant bell, every hour. It's great to watch and nice music too.
